VISIONARIES BEHIND THE CHATEAU
John and Chauncy Childs bring unique talents and shared purpose to the creation of Chateau de Lis. John, a seasoned entrepreneur with a keen eye for architecture and design, envisioned a legacy home that would welcome generations. From the hand-laid cobblestones of the motor court to the artistic design of the pool, arboretum, and future church ruin, his attention to detail is woven into every aspect of the property.
Chauncy, a lifelong educator, accomplished quilter, and certified life coach, brought warmth and soul to the project. Her passion for gardening, hospitality, and design helped shape the estate’s intricate landscaping, interior styling, and comforting atmosphere. Together, they transformed their vision into a living experience — and now, they invite others to create memories here, too.

Our Story
A LASTING LEGACY ROOTED IN SHARED VISION

The Chateau de Lis began with a vision: to create a home for the ages — a place where family, friends, and future guests would gather for unforgettable moments. Over 15 years, only the finest craftsmanship and enduring materials were used to construct the estate on a 133-acre farm. Connecticut Bluestone anchors the main floor, while solid limestone defines stairways, bannisters, and window surrounds. Heavy wooden beams, gothic cabinetry, and carved European antiques enrich each room. A hand-painted, three-wall mural of the Columbia River Gorge graces the dining room, inviting guests to discover hidden details.
Seven themed suites offer immersive stays, while seven acres of lush gardens, winding pathways, and serene lakes invite year-round exploration. The estate's grandeur extends outdoors with a massive rock bridge, intricately laid cobblestone motor court, and stunning architecture throughout. Amenities include a Jr. Olympic-sized indoor pool and spa, a 3-acre private lake with twin 40-foot waterslides, a zipline, and a Santa Maria grill — all crafted to elevate both intimate moments and grand celebrations.
